This course is designed for the student who functions as a manager to learn the skills required to increase effectiveness when disciplinary action is taken to correct performance and to document progressive steps. The student will examine verbal counseling, written warnings, and the importance of detailed documentation. Topics to be covered include: discipline, the role of the supervisor, performance versus behavioral issues, and determining actions.

Topics to be covered include: identifying methods to correct an employee’s continuing unsatisfactory performance, communicating specific employee behavior and how it negatively affects performance, giving an employee a verbal disciplinary warning, and documenting formal disciplinary actions.
