McGruff the Crime Dog and his nephew Scruff are enhancement programs designed to promote Crime Prevention initiatives in local communities. It is also a great addition to an agencies’ Community Policing philosophy, fostering communication between law enforcement and citizens, especially youth. This course is designed to educate officers on the history of McGruff the Crime Dog and provide guidelines and instructions on how McGruff and Scruff (McGruff's Nephew) costumes are to be worn. Students will also learn what the Seeing Eye person's responsibilities entail and how McGruff may be utilized in conjunction with Crime Prevention and other Community Outreach Programs.
